Asana of The Month: God of War (skandasana)


Skanda is the Hindu God of War. There are several asanas and variations with the same name. A simpler skandasana is a combination squat with leg side stretch. This skandasana pose is included in B.K.S Iyengar’s Light on Yoga.

Sanskrit Name: Skandasana

Difficulty Level: 7

Start Position: Staff


Step 1.

Take your left leg and place it behind your head.

Step 2.

Bend forward over your right leg. Extend both arms and grab your left wrist with your right hand

Step 3.

Hold the pose as long as it feels comfortable.
